This is something you want to give some thought to because you want your site to come up high in the Google search results and clearly communicate what your blog or site is about. While there have been companies that have been successful with names like Google or Amazon it’s easier to use a name that identifies your topic. This helps with both search engine optimization (SEO) and the ease with which potential customers can find you based on the information they are looking for.
The best URL for my topic of backyard farming would be www.backyardfarm.com or www.backyardfarming.com or www.mybackyardfarm.com or something like this that clearly identifies what the blog is about as well as using the right keywords to come up high in Google search. Unfortunately, like many topics those choices are already taken. The next best options are probably the same names with .net or .org. Since those are not available, I’m going with www.ieatmybackyard.com because it really states what my blog will be about. Hopefully this one will work well too. Wish me luck!
